New members appointed to the Student Advisory Board

Every summer, there is a change in the members of the International Student Advisory Board, which provides the National Code of Conduct Commission (NC) with solicited and unsolicited advice. The selection of the new members took place earlier than usual this year so that the new members would get the opportunity to meet the outgoing members and obtain information from them. They will also get the opportunity to meet the members of the NC beforehand during the annual summer meeting between the members of the Commission and the Advisory Board.

The Student Advisory Board is delighted to welcome no fewer than six new members this year. The new members are: Alivia Peterli (UvA), André Ramos de Almeida (The Hague UAS), Caleb Turner (WUR), Io Carpiso (UvA), Iza Piacentini (The Hague UAS) and Nattan Pourriol (Design Academy Eindhoven). You can view their biographies on our website. We wish these new members happiness and success on this Advisory Board.

Unfortunately, we will also be saying farewell to a number of current members of the Advisory Board this summer. Some members have completed their maximum term of office, while others have graduated and are leaving the Board for this reason. We would like to thank Rauf Mahmud-Zada (a member from the start), Bianca Tudorache, Parker Winkel, Marko Darabos and Eoghan McCarthy for their dedication, inspiring discussions and valuable observations.

Another interesting year lies ahead for the Board. The evaluation of the Code of Conduct is also an important benchmark for the Advisory Board. The functioning of the Student Board itself will be examined more closely, but the evaluation is also a good opportunity to advance the recommendations given to the Commission by the Board. In any case, the Student Advisory Board has made the following recommendations to the NC: the information provided to international students would benefit from being expanded to include topics such as studying under special circumstances and the development or projection of institutional tuition fees. It has also been recommended to thoroughly review the NC’s complaints handling procedure. Is it sufficiently accessible to international students? We will keep you informed of any developments.
